History of Town Opinions
Town Opinions was created to address the imbalance of power between individuals or small organizations and large institutions. This imbalance of power comes from large organizations being able to capture large amounts of data, choose which questions are being asked, and limit access to raw data for analysis. Large cash flow allows for them to hire experts and sophisticated technology to know about themselves and advertise themselves.
Purpose of Town Opinions
Citizens: It is the goal of Town Opinions to put in the hands of every day citizens information about their own communities which allow them to be able to realistically break the monopoly of information local and state governments hold. Through this increase in ownership of information Town Opinion hopes that citizens will become more informed voters, hold elected officials more accountable, and push back when government or businesses make decisions that are not in the best interest of communities.
Non-profits: Town Opinions works hard so that local or smaller non-profit organizations have the ability to complete with larger organizations and government entities for resources and funding. Giving root based community non-profit organizations the capacity to report to government entities allows them to be competitive when it comes to vying for grant money. Through services provided, Town Opinions hope to empower non-profit organizations to more efficiently reach their organizational goals and objectives.
Small Businesses: In the arena of small businesses Town Opinions works to assist small businesses in their path to success. Giving small businesses the ability to create their own free or low cost database management systems will allow them to grow without having to spend sizable money on software.
